Compress a PNG for email
Email gateways often cap attachments well below a raw screenshot. Compress PNGs locally, preview quality, and download a smaller file without uploading.
Why email needs a smaller PNG
Full-resolution screenshots are routinely several megabytes. Many providers limit attachments to a few megabytes per message, and large images slow mobile downloads. PNG is right for UI screenshots and sharp text; photos may shrink further as JPEG or WebP.
Steps
- Open Image Compressor and add the PNG.
- Start around quality 75–80 and inspect text edges at 100% zoom.
- If the file is still large, resize the longest edge (for example 1600–1920px) before a second pass.
- Download and attach the result. Keep the original master elsewhere.
Format tips
Keep PNG when you need crisp UI chrome or transparency. Prefer Image to WebP for web pages. Use Image Resizer when dimensions—not only quality—drive the size.
