Free utilities, private by design

A collection of 40 free browser utilities for developers, writers and everyday tasks. Open a tool, add your input and get a result you can use.

What Luminesca Tools is

The collection includes JSON formatting, text conversion, image processing, PDF utilities and calculators. Many operations run in your browser. Currency rates and audio downloads use external services, while some tools load a supporting library from a CDN. Check the notes on each tool and our privacy information for details.

How we picked the tools

Selection criteria

The collection focuses on small tasks with a clear input and a useful output. Related tools and practical instructions help you continue a workflow without starting over.

Reference standards

When we implement an algorithm, we cite the specification we followed. JSON parsing mirrors json.org and MDN's reference; hash functions follow the IETF's RFC 6234 (SHA-256 family) and FIPS 180-4; base64 follows RFC 4648; image compression uses browser-native canvas APIs as documented on MDN; BMI calculations follow WHO adult thresholds. We do not invent our own constants.

Privacy stance

Privacy is a design constraint, not a feature. Every tool is built so that the data you paste or upload stays on your device. We do not run a server-side processor, we do not log your inputs, and we do not share what you type with any third party. The site uses anonymous analytics (page views, country-level geography) and privacy-respecting advertising. You can read the long version in our Privacy Policy.

How we work

How this project is produced

Every tool is built and maintained by the project’s operator, with AI assistance used for drafting and code. Each tool is re-checked when the browsers or reference specifications it depends on change, and the date shown on a tool page reflects the last substantive change to that tool — not a scheduled editorial review, because this project does not run one.

Standards, not guesses

We anchor output to a public standard wherever possible and link it from the relevant tool page. When a tool uses an opinionated threshold (such as BMI categories), we cite the source organisation (in BMI's case, WHO).

How it is funded

Tools are free and stay free. The site is free to read. A Google AdSense application is pending, so no advertising is currently served. We do not sell user data, and we do not run sponsorship or affiliate links inside the tools themselves.

About the project

Luminesca Tools is part of the Luminesca family of independent projects, alongside Luminesca Games, Luminesca News and Luminesca Travel. Luminesca is a one-person project focused on building useful, low-noise, no-data-grab software and writing. The project is not venture-funded and carries no sponsorship.
